The corporate world is stacked against independent writers, new talent, unorthodox approaches, self-made achievers, free spirits, and unrestrained creativity. While corporate publishing entities remain a necessary evil, and many consumers prefer the corporate ease of access to authors’ works, please know that corporations take between 35% and 65% of an author’s earnings simply for using the corporate venue for publication. Book creators are often treated as mettlesome indentured servants, and are threatened with censorship, anti-competitive practices from more powerful and influential authors, punitive actions against compliance (for example, for not stating in a disclaimer that artwork is AI-assisted), and baseless threats (as one example, threatening to ban an author for plagiarism simply for quoting a public domain book written in the 1700s).
If you know, you know. If you don’t know, you are fortunate. There are reasons why I will only share this information here.
(By the way, the only 100% honorable entity I have had dealings with so far is the Bundle of Holding. Everyone else is shades of white, down to grey, below that.)
